I got this idea from Making Learning Fun and I had a volunteer make it for me so she could make enough bags of wool to hand out to all the kids who attend toddler storytime. Before we sing the song, I hand out the shape bags to the kids. Then after singing the song for each shape, the kids bring the bag to the board to match the shape on the sheep.
Baa Baa Shape Sheep
Baa, baa circle sheep have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for my master, one for the dame, one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

(kids with circles on their bags of wool bring them to the board before we sing about the next shape)
Great post! I love that it's both a matching game and a nursery rhyme.
ReplyDeleteI love flannels which allow the kids to bring pieces up to the flannel board - I think it's great that they can be part of the action.
ReplyDeleteI love interactive flannel boards too. I try to have something for the toddlers to bring to the board every week of storytime. Usually, it is clipart that goes along with the last book we read. I did it once and it was such a hit that I started to do it every week. Many parents say it is their child's favorite part of storytime. It is a great way to praise the toddlers as helpers during storytime.
DeleteLove this one! I normally do this with some prop sticks, but I simply HAVE to make this flannel!
ReplyDeleteI love this! It is a great twist on an old favorite and I already have a program in mind where it will work great.
